Pure Sunfarms received their fifth amendment today from Health Canada to their cultivation license.

The amendment allows them to expand their production area in Delta, BC by approximately 137,000 square feet in Quadrant 3, amounting to a total of approximately 687,000 square feet. Representatives say “the newly licensed area is expected to be fully planted and in production by the end of this week”.

"As strong demand outstrips near-term supply in the Canadian cannabis market, Pure Sunfarms continues to steadily expand its licensed production area, already one of the very largest in the country," said Michael DeGiglio, CEO of Village Farms, which owns 50 per cent of joint venture Pure Sunfarms.

DeGiglio adds that they are confident in Pure Sunfarms' ability to achieve their projected annual production of 75,000 kilograms in the first half of 2019. Aiming to be fully integrated, they’re awaiting a packaging sales license amendment in order to start sales to provincial boards.

Pure Sunfarms expects to complete conversion of another 275,000 square feet in Quadrant 4 by the end of the year. The goal is a licensed area of 1.1 million square feet.

To support winter production when levels of sunlight are low, supplemental lighting is either operational or in the works.
