Encinitas, California.
Ball Seed Company and Paul Ecke Ranch have announced a new partnership that will see some production of the Ball Chrysanthemum line of garden mum varieties moved to a new operation at the Ecke facility in Encinitas, California.
The Ball Chrysanthemum program includes a complete line of garden, pot and cut mum varieties available to growers throughout North America. Ball Seed draws its genetics from some of the most acclaimed breeders worldwide, and their Chrysanthemum garden mums have delivered solid performance in trials conducted in Canada and the United States.
Ecke Ranch will supplement the current production coming from Milgro Newcastle Inc., Utah, which will continue to be the exclusive, year-round supplier of pot, cut and garden mums. This expansion will allow Ball Seed to meet the growing demand for garden mum varieties during the peak shipping season.

The high light, long days and cool nights at the Ecke facility provide optimal conditions for chrysanthemum production. Klopmeyer notes the facility is equipped for raised bed production in screened greenhouses and that the personnel, inventory systems and technical know-how already in place at Ecke will be huge assets to the Chrysanthemum program.

Unrooted cutting production of Ball garden mum varieties at the Ecke facility will be fully operational in time for the spring 2007 shipping season.
