1.4 M sq. ft. cannabis greenhouse coming to Leamington

Cannabis Wheaton Income Corp. recently announced a joint venture with greenhouse builder and operator Peter Quiring. Under their newly formed subsidiary GreenhouseCo, the team aims to build a 1.4 million square foot greenhouse for cannabis cultivation in Leamington, Ontario.

As the founder and owner of NatureFresh Farms, Quiring runs one of the largest greenhouse bell pepper and tomato operations in North America. He’s also had over 25 years of experience in designing, building and running greenhouses, with a proven track record in bringing automation and technological advancements to the greenhouse industry.

“This is an exciting project both in terms of its scale and technological sophistication,” states Hugo Alves, President and Director of Cannabis Wheaton, “and we are honoured to be partnering with the best in the business to ensure that this facility becomes one of the largest and best run greenhouse cultivation facilities in the country.”

According to a press release, Phase I of the build is expected to generate 120 million grams of cannabis per year. There is potential for expansion up to a total of 2.8 million square feet. The facility will also be equipped for automation and a 100% closed-loop water recycling system.
