BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Michigan company is moving ahead with efforts to establish a new U.S.-Canada border crossing in Buffalo. The Ambassador Niagara Signature Bridge Group has applied for a permit to build a new bridge about 2.5 kilometres north of the existing Peace Bridge across the Niagara River. Ambassador officials have said their privately owned bridge would offer an alternative truck route to the heavily travelled Peace Bridge. Operators of the Peace Bridge oppose the new crossing. The U.S. State Department is taking written comments on the permit application until April 28.
