Jan. 5, 2011, Kwintsheul, the Netherlands – The new tomato demonstration greenhouse of Rijk Zwaan has opened.
The one-hectare facility was built by Leo van Meurs. The experienced tomato grower has taken over from Harry Augustijn, who managed the Rijk Zwaan tomato demo glasshouse in Steenbergen the previous seven years.

The Kwintsheul nursery is comparably equipped to commercial greenhouses. The reception area is separated from the production area.
“Despite all the rain in August and September and the early onset of winter,” said van Meurs, “we were able to adhere quite well to the original building schedule. Due to the cold weather (experienced more recently), we had to postpone planting by a few days, but the plant material looks perfect now.”
