Metrolina Greenhouses founder dies

Dec. 21, 2009 – Tom Van Wingerden, a Dutch immigrant's son who founded one of the
nation's largest greenhouses in Huntersville and was a regular on the
Legends racing series, died in an incident involving his utility
vehicle early Saturday.
