Avaya: improved fruit quality

August 2015 — De Ruiter’s 2014 summer trials of its cucumber hybrid “Avaya” in both Ontario and British Columbia showed a competitive level of production with improved fruit quality over the current market leaders...

“Avaya” has intermediate resistance against the cucumber green mottle mosaic virus and high resistance to powdery mildew.

The variety’s level of powdery mildew resistance also makes it most suitable for crops grown under high light levels.

“Avaya” has the potential to produce a high per cent of medium fruit with a nice dark green colour, good shape, strong ribbing with a lower tendency to become too necky like other varieties.
