"As a leader in LED Horticultural technologies we are always looking to partner with innovative leaders in other markets who can utilize LED products to complement their innovations."

Traders Hill Farm, an aquaponics farm in Hilliard, asked LED Canada to develop a LED light suitable for its new indoor aquaponics farm.

SUSTAINABLE FOOD PRODUCTION

Aquaponics is a sustainable food production system that combines a traditional aquaculture (raising aquatic animals such as snails, fish, crayfish or prawns in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment.

GrowthStar LED customized its ZA VegMax™ lights to suit the unique needs of the Trader Hill systems including the addition of LED IR emitters.

"In our aquaponics system, we use GrowthStar lights and they emit just the spectrum of light our plants use, with no wasted heat or non usable light," said Angela TenBroeck, president of Trader Hill Farms.

"The lights allow a 24-hour growth cycle which maximizes the benefits of aquaponics. We love our lights from LED Canada for the effectiveness and cost efficiency they provide."
