Aug. 11, Columbus, OH — Ohio transportation officials are trying to attract some new visitors – honeybees.
The state Department of Transportation has planted wildflower seeds in the median along parts of route 207. The idea is to create a habitat for the bees, whose populations have been dropping in recent years.
Experts note farmers need the bees to pollinate a host of crops, from apples to pumpkins.
The Columbus Dispatch reports the flowers will not only feed the bees, but will also beautify the road.
