View free webinar ‘How GF2 Can Work for You’

March 2, 2017  By Dave Harrison

March 3, 2017, Simcoe, Ont. – Looking to innovate and improve your competitiveness? Growing Forward 2 can help.

“How Growing Forward 2 Can Work for You,” held earlier today, was the first presentation in this year’s Greenhouse Canada webinar series.

If you were unable to view it live yesterday, you can still watch the recorded version which has been posted to our Webinars microsite.

The webinar was sponsred by GGS Structures Inc.

This federal-provincial-territorial initiative has helped many farmers across Canada grow their operations, including many greenhouse producers. While the program is national in scope, program delivery is slightly different across the provinces.

Click here to read how Growing Forward 2 assisted one Ontario grower. “We started with GF2 to assist with, first, understanding our business’s financial position and then gaining an in-depth understanding of the cost of production. This, in turn, steers analysis of what products and processes need improvement to achieve higher margins.”

ONTARIO SOIL AND CROP IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION

In Ontario, the program is delivered to farmers by the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association. Leading our webinar was OSCIA program coordinator Barbara Caswell. She outlined how GF2 works in Ontario.

Growing up in a small farm town in Ontario, Barb has worked closely with the farming community. Since completing her Master’s of Science at the University of Guelph in 2004, she has worked with the Turkey Farmers of Canada and the Canadian Sheep Federation, before joining OSCIA as a Program Coordinator for GF2.

TRULY GREEN FARMS

To share in their on-farm success, OSCIA is launching a series of videos of how producers are benefiting under the program. The first two of those videos – beekeeper Hugh Simpson and Truly Green Farms greenhouse vegetable operation – are now available! Click here to view the videos.
