Perlite Canada Inc. has acquired VIL Vermiculite, the Canadian perlite and vermiculite business of Normiska Corporation, which includes a perlite and vermiculite processing plant located in Lachine, Quebec.

'Plant Nutrition' in night school this fall
“Plant Nutrition” will be the focus of a 10-week night course this fall at the Vineland campus of the University of Guelph. It will be held Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 10 in Rittenhouse Hall.

Heping Zhu and Adam Clark at the Application Technology Research Unit of the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in Wooster, Ohio, have developed an easy-to-use and easy-to-build portable instrument so that farmers and greenhouse growers can test the accuracy of their pressure gauges.
Slow-release nutrient amendments, particularly those from plants and animal sources, are becoming increasingly popular in greenhouses and in certified organic farming. Depending on what material is being used, these amendments can vary in the amount, timing and balance of nutrients released. This makes managing soil fertility very challenging if you are a gardener, farmer or greenhouse operator.
