The Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recently announced the approval of URMULE (user requested minor use label expansion) registrations for Confine, Rampart and Phostrol Fungicides for suppression of downy mildew and pythium root rot on greenhouse-grown basil in Canada.

Confine, Rampart and Phostrol Fungicides were already labeled for use on a number of crops in Canada for control of several diseases.

These minor use projects were sponsored by the British Columbia Ministry of Agriculture as a result of minor use priorities established by growers and extension personnel.

The following is provided as an abbreviated, general outline only. Users should be making pest management decisions within a robust integrated disease management program and should consult the complete label before using Confine, Rampart or Phostrol Fungicides.

For suppression of downy mildew and Pythium root rot on greenhouse basil, apply Confine at 3 to 5 L/ha, Rampart at 3 to 8 L/ha (foliar) or 5 to 7 L/ha (drench), and Phostrol at 2.9 to 5.8 L/ha. Consult individual labels for recommended number of applications, interval between applications and other application details. Rampart and Phostrol can be applied up to the day of harvest. Observe a 1-day pre-harvest interval (PHI) for Confine.

Do not contaminate off-target areas or aquatic habitats when spraying or when cleaning and rinsing spray equipment or containers. Follow all precautions and detailed directions for use on the Confine, Rampart and Phostrol Fungicides label carefully.

For a copy of the new minor use label contact your local crop specialist, regional supply outlet or visit the PMRA label site http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/cps-spc/pest/registrant-titulaire/tools-outils/label-etiq-eng.php

Note: This article is not intended to be an endorsement or recommendation for these particular products, but rather a notice of registration activity.
