Nov. 6, 2015, Vineland Station, Ont. — Growers now have access to a key new IPM tool. will serve both floriculture and vegetable greenhouse sectors and it’s a collaboration between Flowers Canada Growers (FCG), the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), Vineland Research and Innovation Centre (Vineland), and Agriculture Agri-Food Canada’s (AAFC) Pest Management Centre (PMC).

The website offers the latest information on IPM and biological control in a greenhouse setting. It provides a detailed description of pests and their biocontrol agents, as well as instructions on how to use biocontrols within an IPM program.

Initially it will focus on two key pests – whiteflies and thrips – and their control. Over time, the website will evolve to encompass all common types of insects and pests, as well as diseases of greenhouse crops.

As part of the website launch, there will be two opportunities to participate in a free workshop that will cover all the components of thrips IPM and how they fit into a greenhouse production system.

The workshops will be held Nov. 23 or 30, from 8:30 to 1, at Rittenhouse Hall at the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre. Lunch is included. Please RSVP by Nov. 16 to Dr. Rose Buitenhuis at 905-562-0320, ext. 749, or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
