Industry veteran joins CanAgPlus board

Dec. 14, 2017, Ottawa – An Ontario greenhouse industry veteran is among four new directors elected to the CanAgPlus board.

Greenhouse Canada readers will recognize Stephanie Lariviere (Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers and Erie James Ltd.) as one of this year’s Top 10 Under 40 award recipients.

Lariviere joins Robert Allard (Pommes Philip Cassidy Inc.), Keith Kuhl, (Southern Potato Company) and Scott Wright (Star Produce) as board newcomers.

The annual general meeting of CanAgPlus, the corporation that owns and operates the CanadaGAP Program, was held earlier this month in Ottawa.

Lariviere is regulatory manager for Erie James Ltd., a packer/shipper operation in Leamington, and Sunsation Acres Ltd., a greenhouse operation in Kingsville, Ontario.

She received the Mary Fitzgerald Award from the Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) in 2013 and is involved in numerous industry committees, including a directorship with the Ontario  Greenhouse Marketers Association.

Lariviere also serves as vice-chair of the CPMA Food Safety Committee and as a grower representative for Food Safety for the Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers. She chairs the CanadaGAP Stakeholder Advisory Committee.

One director, Dean Thomson, retired from the board after four years of service.

The new board met subsequent to the AGM and reappointed Jack Bates to the chair and Hugh Bowman as vice-chair.
