
Jan. 3, 2014, Toronto — Arborists estimate that last month's ice storm destroyed about 20 per cent of the urban canopy in Toronto alone, making it a safe bet that garden centres in hard hit areas will see a big spike in demand for trees come spring.
Arborist Jordan McKinnon told the Toronto Star that some neighbourhoods were harder hit than others, and estimated that some streets lost between 50 and 80 per cent of their total tree canopy. Click here to read the full story.
