Hottest … Perfect … Coolest … award-winners

REACH INTERNATIONALJune 24, 2016, Leamington, Ont. – This year’s “Hottest Tomato,” “Perfect Pepper” and “Coolest Cucumber” award winners have been served up.
REACH International hosted its ninth annual Greenhouse Competitions during the Leamington Fair. Some 159 entries were judged.
These unique competitions, presented in part by Red Sun Farms, include two stages.
• In the first stage, expert judges from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, grocery store produce managers, chefs and other vegetable connoisseurs judged the entries with a specialized list of criteria.
• Following that, the public voted for their favourite tomato, pepper and cucumber for the “People’s Choice” awards. The “Kids’ Choice” awards had younger audience members vote for their favourites.
The net proceeds from this event will be used for REACH’s main project in Uganda.
