March 22, 2016, Las Vegas — GrowTrucks, LLC, the container farm division of Indoor Farms of America – maker of unique vertical aeroponic indoor farm equipment – has announced the delivery and operation of the first sold container farm using the latest patented technology in indoor agriculture.
The company saysthe unit has a growing capacity that eclipses any other product in the marketplace.
“By combining our superior aeroponic vertical growing platform, with the latest components to operate the farm, we have delivered on our mission to bring to agriculture a truly economically viable solution, wrapped in a container,” said David Martin, CEO of Indoor Farms of America.
“When we began, we were set to actually be a customer of another container farm maker, a few years ago.
“What we discovered was they were cramming what we felt was very poor technology in a small box and calling it innovation, and we knew the business model was not going to be successful for farmers. We knew then and we know now that you simply must grow more plants to make a successful business model and generate a reasonable R.O.I. from a tiny farm platform such as a shipping container.”
The GrowTrucks unique, reliable and patented vertical aeroponic platform can affordably grow up to 8,450 healthy plants with excellent flavour due to the patented system for mineral uptake in the plants, all in a 320-square-foot container. It is designed to operate in any climate all year long.
“If you want fresh strawberries, chili peppers, or just about any leafy green, and you are located in the coldest climate, in a remote location, you can do just that. It makes great sense as a business, and is easy to operate, even if you don’t have a green thumb,” said company president Ron Evans.
