Pace Solutions Corp. has received a virucide designation from Health Canada for one of the company’s most popular disinfectants, Chemprocide.
Virucides prevent the human coronavirus strand 229E (HCoV-229E) from existing on surfaces. The company says Chemprocide is a non-corrosive hospital-grade disinfectant, fungicide, deodorizer and now virucide used in a wide range of industries from schools to food production and processing. It also works without the astringent odour of bleach and other oxidizing industrial disinfectants.
“We’ve all had a tough year with the pandemic and experts are speculating that this may not be the last time we’ll face a similar situation in our lifetimes,” said Wes Martin, president of Pace Solutions. “By eliminating human coronavirus from the workplace, Chemprocide insures against potential outbreaks amongst staff leading to abrupt and prolonged shutdowns.”
At a ratio of 8 mL/litre, Chemprocide eliminates human coronavirus 229E, one of the seven human coronaviruses identified and a species of coronavirus responsible for the common cold. The approval states that it is likely to kill the SARS-CoV-2 – the virus that causes COVID-19 – when applied to hard non-porous surfaces after using the appropriate cleaner. Although properly cleaning a surface helps reduce the transmission of the infection between people, only using an approved disinfectant kills the virus. Applying Chemprocide on surfaces and leaving it for the label-recommended contact time (10 minutes) ensures the complete decontamination of harmful microbes.
Chemprocide has a neutral pH, making it non-corrosive to surfaces. It is safe for use on many different materials such as wood, PVC pipe, corrugated plastic, stainless steel, aluminum, iron, concrete, poly, and glass.
Being a broad-spectrum disinfectant, Chemprocide is also a fungicide and deodorizer, distinguishing it from other virucides. Biofilms and fungal environments create the perfect conditions for infectious microbes to thrive, as well as enflaming some allergies and causing a stale odour. As a fungicide for mold and mildew control on tile, wood, concrete and painted surfaces, it helps maintain a fungus-free surface for up to 15-20 days.
Working long periods amongst heavy chemical smells such as bleach and other industrial oxidizing disinfectants can cause staff to suffer from headaches, burning eyes and breathing issues. Odour-free Chemprocide helps facilities and work areas remain neutral smelling with no disruption to workplace conditions and morale.
Pace Solutions recommends applying Chemprocide as part of its Pace ACBD System (Always Clean Before Disinfecting).
Step 1: Scrub the area with an appropriate cleaner.
Step 2: Thoroughly rinse the cleaner off with water.
Step 3: Apply Chemprocide at recommended concentrations and contact time to kill target microbes.
“Employers can reduce the chance of an outbreak and possibly lower the number of staff sick days using Chemprocide and the ABCD System,” said Martin.
