Nov. 20, 2012, Greensboro, NC — Griffin Greenhouse Supplies has purchased Syngenta Horticultural Services (SHS).

Under terms of the agreement, Griffin acquired the SHS business, including distribution and brokerage capabilities and assets affiliated with SHS facilities in Lisle and Downers Grove, Ill. Employees at both sites transferred to Griffin at closing.

In addition, Griffin signed a long-term agreement to distribute and broker Syngenta Flowers genetics. With this agreement in place, Syngenta Flowers and Griffin will continue to work closely together to address the horticultural needs of greenhouse and nursery growers.

“We’re very excited that SHS will be able to join forces with Griffin to create one of the industry’s most comprehensive portfolios of greenhouse and nursery solutions offered,” said Tim Kroenke, head of Syngenta Lawn & Garden in North America.

“Syngenta remains deeply committed to delivering against our core business strategy in the greenhouse and nursery market. By simplifying and focusing on our core flower genetics and plant protection businesses, Syngenta will be well-positioned to deliver solutions that offer consumers a better plant experience.”

Craig Hyslip, chief operating officer of Griffin, said the acquisition of SHS "is going to strengthen our team, our offerings and our relationships so we can supply a broader product offering to a larger customer base to meet the growing needs of our customers now and into the future.”

He added that growers will now be able to access to “a larger resource pool of technical support and industry experts.”
