Greenhouse producers awarded for innovations in packaging and snackable products

Mastronardi's new Honey Bomb tomatoes and Mucci Farms' new paper top seal took home CPMA awards this week.

Two greenhouse producers took home Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) awards this year in the annual new product showcase.

The Packaging Innovation Award went to Mucci Farms for their Paper Top Seal. This new recyclable top not only reduces plastic use, but compliments their existing, recyclable packaging.

The winner of the newly renamed Best Snackable Product category was Mastronardi Produce’s SUNSET Honey Bombs Golden Cherry Tomatoes-on-the-Vine. Said to be ‘sweet-like-honey’ with the perfect crunch, Honey Bombs are the latest addition to the SUNSET Bombs’ lineup of on-the-vine snacking tomatoes. This category was previously known as the ‘Freggie-Approved Product’.

The two remaining winners were The Little Potato Company’s Easy Sides for best new product, and La Huerta Imports’ Wana Bana Organic Fruit Puree for the organic product award

Normally held at the CPMA Convention and Trade Show, the CPMA New Product Showcase was moved online due to COVID-19. It featured 56 products from 44 companies.

The CPMA looks forward to hosting the 2021 New Product Showcase in-person next year at the 2021 CPMA Convention and Trade Show, taking place March 2-4, 2021, in Vancouver B.C.
