Greenhouse film shifts light to boost yields

The cover is designed to shift the wavelengths of light entering the greenhouse, giving plants more light from the portion of the spectrum they need to thrive.
As Hortidaily.com reports:
“They work with photo luminescent plastic to shift light wavelengths to provide the optimal conditions for a variety of settings. For greenhouses, where plants thrive under red light and reflect away unused green light, the goal is to change green light into the red light that plants crave. That extra energy benefits plants, and the increased yields benefit growers.”
Trials on assorted salad crops showed 10 to 30 per cent weight increases, while green beans experienced a 70 per cent increase in weight.
