Over 500 people attended Dutch Growers’ greenhouse and garden centre last week in support of the Saskatoon Cancer Centre.

Organized by volunteer-run Choc’laCure and the team from Dutch Growers, proceeds from the sold-out fall fashion show will go towards purchasing equipment for patients in need of cancer treatment.

“When it is you, your family, friends, or co-workers waiting for or receiving treatment, having the most up-to-date resources really hits home,” says Ireland Jones, marketing manager at Dutch Growers. “We wish for the best cancer treatment available, the best care possible, to ensure the best chance of living a complete, healthy, and happy life.”

Organizers were able to transform the greenhouse in just two days, moving plants, products and displays as well as cleaning up and setting up tables and chairs.

One key highlight of the show was the runway walk by Cancer Couture models, who have either undergone cancer treatment or are in the process of receiving it. “These women are strong, beautiful and survivors,” says Jones. “It is very heartwarming to see these women support each other and come together in support of something so very close to their hearts as well as ours.”

Choc’laCure has raised over $2.6 million since its inception in 2007. All proceeds go towards funding equipment for cancer treatments. A fundraising gala will be held next, on November 2 at Dutch Growers.
