Nov. 10, 2009 – A new Green for Life Award will be introduced at Congress 2010 and the winners announced on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Tailgate Party XIV.
A new Green for Life Award will be introduced at Congress 2010 and the winners announced on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Tailgate Party XIV.
The Green for Life Award has been created to promote, recognize and reward environmentally responsible professionals in the horticultural, lawn and garden industry. Winners will be drawn from three industry sectors: contractor, landscape design/interior plantscape, and lawn care/maintenance.
Strategies for successful environmental stewardship are detailed in the Environmental Scorecard, a self-evaluation tool developed by Landscape Ontario’s Environmental Stewardship Committee. By completing the Scorecard, companies get a snapshot of their environmental scores, and a blueprint for progress. Now, they are also automatically entered into the Green for Life Awards.
Entries are open for the Green for Life Awards. Green industry members can now take part in a short self-assessment survey to see how their environmental practices measure up. The Scorecard is a tool allowing green industry businesses to rate their environmental practices, and benchmark future improvements.
Participants who complete their scorecards by December 18, 2009 will receive a graded report and be eligible to win one of three $1000 cash prizes courtesy of Turf Revolution, a manufacturer of 100% organic and natural turf and horticultural products.
“The Green for Life Awards program is in response to a positive shift towards better environmental stewardship that is taking over the green industry.” said Tammy Lawrence, president, Turf Revolution. “The achievements of industry leaders need to be recognized so that others can prosper from the standards they set.”
Congress takes place at the Toronto Congress Centre on January 12 – 14, 2010. All participants are invited to the Tailgate Party XIV in the International Ballroom at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13th where the “Green for Life” winners will be announced.
