Jan. 21, 2014, Angers, France — The Flying Doctors pollination system of Biobest received an award during this year’s SIVAL show.

“SIVAL is a key event for agriculture and horticulture in France and this will help us to better inform growers about the unique potential of our pollination solutions,” said Loïc Goeäu, general manager of Biobest France.

A recent report indicated France has less than 50 per cent of the honeybees required for the successful pollination of a range of crops, a level comparable to many other European countries.

There is now growing demand for bumblebees by growers of all kinds of fruits, not only in greenhouses, but also in orchards and fields.

“This SIVAL award shows that, with the Flying Doctors system, we’ve taken our proven bumblebee technology to an even higher level,” said Goeäu. “Now we have a solution to deliver successful pollination even in orchards in which pollen is in short supply.”
