fco_summer_08_ottawaAug. 8, 2009, Ottawa — A Flowers Canada delegation travelled to Ottawa
earlier this summer to discuss major industry issues with a number of
government officials.

Tom Mulleder, centre, chairperson of Flowers
Canada Inc., and Andrew Kuyvenhoven, at right, president of Flowers
Canada Growers, met with officials from different departments
in Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection
Agency (CFIA). Among those welcoming them was Stephen Page from the Market and Industry
Services Branch (MISB) of AAFC.

The meeting was organized to present a five-year strategic plan outlining the needs of the floriculture sector in Canada, and to discuss how the sector can work in partnership with AAFC and CFIA in order to achieve the continued success of the sector. A research strategy was also discussed so that floriculture producers in Canada can take advantage of new programs being offered by AAFC under the Growing Forward Program.
