F
ireFly Energy is offering a
new
Green Program that will allow
customers to reduce their environmental
footprint. FireFly Energy is
helping its natural gas customers
become carbon-neutral by investing
in initiatives that reduce carbon
dioxide.

These projects include
generating renewable energy
using solar power, conservation
projects, tree-planting initiatives,
and the capturing and sequestering
of carbon dioxide in enhanced
oil recovery.
FireFly has also been undertaking
initiatives to reduce its own environmental
footprint. “When we moved
into our new office building last
year, we renovated it to make it
energy-efficient,” said FireFly general
manager Bruce Fraser. “One major
initiative was to install solar panels
that allow us to generate clean,
renewable electricity.”

Some 51 panels were installed.
The electricity generated will result
in 11 tonnes of CO2 production
being avoided each year, which is
equivalent to planting about 2,000
trees.
