Farwest reveals new product showcase

July 24, 2012  By Canadian Garden Centre & Nursery

July 24, 2012, Portland, OR — Officials from the 2012 Farwest Show have announced this year’s new products showcase and retail marketplace line ups.

The two features are geared to enhance garden retailers’ product offerings and customer experience, according to Farwest Show director Allan Niemi.

“Farwest’s new products showcase and retail marketplace are both essential for garden centre professionals,” Niemi said. “Both exhibits offer solutions to improve a retailer’s bottom line, featuring everything from the newest products for the home gardener to the latest best practices in retail merchandising.”

This year’s new products marketplace includes four new products for the retailer: the Green Cycler composter, the Big Bad Bed pre-assembled raised bed, the small-footprint Tomato Barrel and Sustane 4-6-4 Natural Plant Food.

For growers, the new product showcase includes 10 products, ranging from fertilizers and herbicides to iPad apps for shipping and ordering. The products offer cost-and-labour savings, new characteristics and production process enhancement features.

All of the products featured in the showcase have been selected for their new and unique features, and all were launched in either 2011 or 2012. Some will be making their debut at the Farwest Show, and orders for new products can be placed on the show floor.

The retail marketplace is a dedicated area on the Farwest Show floor where specialty vendors who design and/or sell retail products and gift lines can display and sell their product to retail garden centres. It includes live merchandising and sales demonstrations.

The 2012 Farwest Show will take place Aug. 23 to 25 at Oregon Convention Centre in Portland, Ore.
