Expanding the locally grown network

November 20, 2017  By Building Block Associates

Nov. 20, 2017, Toronto – Building Block Associates is looking for Ontario farmers who are interested in being part of its fresh fruit and vegetable supply chain.

Whether you grow a small or large variety of crops in Ontario, the company is seeking farmers who can supply fresh, locally grown Ontario produce.

“The demand for locally grown produce continues to increase,” says company CEO and founder Dwayne Reno.

“We currently operate in Ontario and have identified other potential markets for Canadian grown fruits and vegetables. We are interested in working with regional growers from all across Ontario, including apple, berries, melons, cherries, stone fruit and vegetable growers.”

In a 2011 Farm Credit Canada survey of Canadian consumers, 42 per cent said they were willing to pay a premium for locally grown food.

Building Block Associates, which currently sells to foodservice operators, is investing in the expansion of its online store platform and is interested in accessing more stable, locally grown sources of produce.

The project, which involves Building Block Associates and its current food storage and distribution partners, will help to supply Canadian residents and international customers with Canadian grown fruits, vegetables and much more.

“This is an exciting opportunity for Ontario farmers, especially for those who would like to see their crops go to market as part of a growing supply chain helping to get Canadian grown produce to Canadians.”
