Qatar’s seawater cooled greenhouse officially opens

The Sahara Forest Project’s seawater cooled pilot greenhouse project in Qatar has already yielded 23 tonnes of cucumbers in just two weeks.

The project officially launched last month during the Doha Climate Conference, welcoming conference delegates and others to sample the fruits of its labour. Visitors from around the world had the opportunity to much on the freshly harvested cucumbers and check out the facility, which is cooled by seawater and irrigated by a solar powered water desalination system.
