A group of international scientists working has devised a crop production system in the outback of South Australia which uses solar energy to desalinate sea water.

Solar energy also produces all heating, cooling and electricity (with a small amount of diesel used in the winter).
The current experimental greenhouse is 2,000 m2 but a $30 million eight-hectare commercial operation is planned. Visit here for more.
