Earth Day Canada wants to reward green businesses

Oct. 21, 2013, Toronto – Is your business working to foster meaningful,
long-term community awareness and action on environmental issues? Earth
Day Canada wants to give you $5,000 to green your operation!
The Hometown Heroes Award Program, which was established by Earth
Day Canada in 2004, recognizes and celebrates environmental leaders.
All
Canadian owned businesses that have operated as a registered business
for at least two years and carry out their business locally and
regionally are eligible.
The winner of the Small Business
Hometown Heroes Award will receive a $5,000 cash prize that must be used
to make an operational change that lessens the business's environmental
impact. The winner will also be granted permission to use the Earth Day
Canada logo for one year in order to market and promote the business.
The nomination deadline for the 2014 Hometown Heroes Award is March 31, 2014.
