Double layer retractable roof boosts efficiency for Turkish greenhouse

The double layer roofed greenhouse shelters more than 50 varieties of tomatoes. (Couresy of burgundavia.) Turkish vegetable seed producer Hasel Tarim recently completed construction on a 7,200 square metre retractable roof A-Frame rafter greenhouse.
According to the global fruit and vegetable news website FreshPlaza:
“The new greenhouse features a computer controlled double layer retractable roof with roll up walls. The upper retractable greenhouse roof is a transparent poly fabric to help increase temperatures in the winter while providing protection to crops from rain and hail. The lower retractable roof layer is a white poly fabric which acts as an energy curtain in the winter and provides cooling like a cloud in the summer.”
The company is currently using the greenhouse to grow tomatoes and cucumbers.
