For the second consecutive year, all four Proven Winners plants submitted for testing by members of the National Home Gardening Club (NHGC) have received a Member Tested Seal of Approval.
The varieties are Gypsophila ‘Festival™ Star,’ Lobelia ‘Laguna™ Sky Blue,’ Nemesia fruticans ‘Blue Bird,’ and Sedum ‘Angelina.’

Marshall Dirks, director of marketing and public relations, said PW considers the NHGC testing program to be the consumer equivalent of university field trials. “Five hundred gardeners from across the U.S. rated each variety on 10 separate attributes including performance, bloom production, growth, and plant health. To receive a Seal means at least 67 per cent of those who took part in the test recommend that particular plant to fellow club members. It's a very rigorous process.”

The NHGC was established in 1996, and has approximately 650,000 members in the U.S. and Canada. Each year members volunteer to test new plants, seed, tools, and other garden-related products. The organization publishes its test results in their monthly magazine, Gardening How-To, and on their website at www.gardeningclub.com.
