Each year, horticulturists at the University of Guelph plant new varieties in trial gardens to evaluate how they will fare in the gardens of consumers, parks and institutions around Ontario, and other similar environments.

Aug. 1, 2008, Niagara Falls, Ont. – Renowned horticulturist Dr. Allan Armitage will lead a pair of community garden tours hosted by the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture later this month.
The Niagara Pack Trials, a mini version of the more famous California industry tradition, attracted well over 100 people in June to a pair of locations in the Niagara Peninsula. Attendees came from Vermont, Illinois, Ohio, Québec and throughout Ontario.
