The Saskatchewan Greenhouse
Growers (SGGA) and the Saskatchewan
Vegetable Growers Association
(SVGA) will be having their annual
conferences and combined trade show on
Nov. 9 to 11.
There will be 34 hours of presentations
led by 21 speakers. “They’ll be
focusing on greenhouse production,
field vegetable production, garden
centre management, and greenhouse
vegetable production,” notes Glen
Sweetman, the province’s greenhouse
and nursery specialist. “Delegates
shouldn’t have a problem finding topics
relevant to their operation.”
The conference is held at TCU Place in
Saskatoon.
Among presenters are Lloyd and
Candy Traven from Peace Tree Farm
and Rita Randolph from Randolph’s
Greenhouses. “They will energize and
light the creative fire in you about hanging
baskets and planters,” says
Sweetman.
An ever-expanding trade show provides
numerous networking opportunities
for delegates to meet directly with the companies
that provide the products and services
to the industry. In addition, delegates
can take in one of three, four-hour, pre-conference
workshops the Friday night of the
conference.
With lunches, a banquet ticket and nonstop
coffee included in the registration
fee, the cost to attend compares
favourably with horticultural conferences
in other regions, says Sweetman.
