Two charter flights from Mexico arrived in Vancouver last week.
According to the Western Agriculture Labour Initiative (WALI), plans are still in place for new charter flights this week. “It is critical for employers to understand that the response to the pandemic in Mexico is constantly changing (just like in Canada).”
However, WALI notes that there is a possibility of Mexico implementing an internal travel ban. “If this happens, there is a high probability of more “no-shows” on a flight. Charter flights are non-refundable and cannot issue credits. Employers are responsible for the cost of no-shows and will lose the full seat fare if a no-show occurs. Please be aware of these risks when booking your travel arrangements.”
