Champions of innovation at GreenTech 2018

GreenTech 2018

Winners of the GreenTech innovation awards were announced last week in Amsterdam, NL. Highlighting innovations in horticultural technology, the three-day global trade show drew 10,465 professionals from 112 countries and 477 exhibitors.

Out of 22 nominees, four winners emerged:

GreenTech Innovation Award

Autostix – Visser Horti Systems 

Using a patented transplanter with biodegradable strips, this system automates the planting of cuttings. Strips are designed to stimulate the root system and still provide enough air and space during shipment.

GreenTech Sustainability Award

Poseidon Sodium Extractor – Van der Ende Groep 

This system is designed to extract sodium from drainage water to maximize nutrient retention and prevent crop inputs from reaching the surrounding environment. Reverse osmosis helps concentrate discharged water.

GreenTech Impact Award

Priva Academy – Priva Horticulture BV 

A free, online educational site that offers information for horticultural and indoor growing across the globe. Includes training and education on irrigation, climate, energy, labour and production processes.

GreenTech Concept Award

IRIS! Scout robot – Metazet-FormFlex, Micothon & Ecoation

Robot detects pests, diseases and deficiencies using a patented sensor. Plus, it can be fitted with cameras and additional sensors to detect greenhouse conditions (RH, temperature, CO2, PAR, etc.)

Next year’s show will be held June 11 to 13, 2019.
