April 6, 2011, Niagara Falls, Ont. – This year’s Canadian Greenhouse Conference (Oct. 5-6) is moving to Niagara Falls and into the newly opened Scotiabank Convention Centre.

Started in Guelph in 1979 as a way for industry stakeholders to network, share knowledge and conduct business, the CGC has hosted annual conferences in Toronto for the last 10 years.

“We’re excited about the move to Niagara Falls. We’ve revitalized the conference, and will be showcasing greater opportunities for networking, education and entertainment,” said Sandy Carlton, chair of the CGC trade fair committee. “The Niagara region is home to a large percentage of our stakeholders and supporters. We anticipate this move to be a positive one, and look forward to future expansion.”

Since its inception, the CGC has grown to more than 150 exhibitors and regularly attracts over 1,800 attendees. The speakers program will be international in scope, attracting industry leaders and academics from North America and Europe.

SPECIAL MARKETING WORKSHOP
This year, the conference will feature an innovative workshop led by the Flower Council of Holland. General manager Ivo Brautigam and marketing director Dirk van Gemert will share successful marketing strategies used in the Netherlands today, and provide insight on how these strategies can be applied within the North American market.

Industry is already demonstrating strong support for the revamped CGC. Plant Products Co. Ltd., a leader in specialty horticultural markets and related fields, has seized the opportunity to be the Signature Sponsor for 2011.

The CGC is a two-day conference for commercial greenhouse flower and vegetable growers, as well as retail garden centres. The CGC features a pre-conference bus tour that will visit a number of greenhouse vegetable and flower operations in the Niagara region.
