Celebration for the CGC
This was indeed a special year for the Canadian Greenhouse Conference.  A special feature of this year’s conference, in celebration of the 30th anniversary, was a keynote presentation by noted environmentalist Dr. Patrick Moore.

The conference theme was, “Just One Thing,” a reference to the benefits of learning about even just one innovative process, technique or technology to help improve productivity and profitability. Several photo displays showcased the early years of the conference.

Some 157 exhibitors participated this year, including 30 newcomers. A large international contingent was present, including 38 companies from the U.S., two from the Netherlands, and one each from England, Mexico and Korea. A number of booth awards were presented.

Wowing the judges in the Plant Material category were:
•Van Noort Bulb Co. Ltd. (small).
•Dummen USA  (medium).
•Ball Horticultural Co. (large).

Topping the exhibitors in the Equipment/Products category were:
•Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (small).
•Plantech Control Systems (medium).
•Temkin Canada Inc. (large).

Eleven attendees were Lucky Draw winners, including:
•MP3/4 Player: Richard Wong, Shing Fong Farms, Bradford, Ont.; Brian Slaman, Slaman Greenhouses, Burford, Ont.; and Kathryn Gorzo, Sprouts for Life, Kettleby, Ont.
