April 17, 2008
April 17, 2008 - A recent Miracle-Gro survey revealed that Americans recognize the benefits of gardening, but can't seem to find the time to go outdoors.

The study revealed that:

  • 93 per cent of American adults want more time outdoors
  • 99 per cent believe that their dependence on technology has reduced their time outdoors
  • 67 per cent strongly agree that there are mental and physical benefits to spending time with nature
  • 58 per cent strongly agree that Americans don't appreciate, or spend enough time with nature
What parents think:

  • 81 per cent with children aged six to 17 strongly agree it’s important for their child to make an effort to spend time outdoors
  • 50 per cent admit their child does not spend enough time outdoors
  • 67 per cent believe their child spends less time outdoors than they did as kids
Opportunities for improvement:
  • 99 per cent of adults enjoy spending time with nature
  • 33 per cent of adults feel very connected to nature

In response to the survey, Miracle-Gro launched its new campaign, entitled "Its Gro Time".
