Applications for Landscape Ontario awards now open

Aug. 24, 2012, Milton, ON — Landscape Ontario is inviting its members to submit their landscape projects for consideration in the Construction, Maintenance and Design Awards of Excellence programs.

“Award-winning projects consistently show outstanding design sophistication and horticultural knowledge,” said Denis Flanagan, Landscape Ontario’s public relations director. “Our members continue to reach new levels of craftsmanship and the award winners consistently raise the bar for the rest of the industry.”

Companies looking for a competitive edge over other entries are encouraged to showcase their work by taking a variety of photos. Taking photos on an overcast day is best as the soft light captures more detail. Before shots also help demonstrate the scope of work completed. Photographs should be taken from the same vantage point for both before and after shots.

Winners will be announced during Landscape Ontario’s Congress on Jan. 8, 2013. Top scoring winners from the construction and maintenance programs will go on to compete in the National Awards of Excellence program.

Entries will be accepted online until the 4:00 p.m. on Oct. 1. A fee of $155 per entry is required.

New for 2013 is the opportunity for companies to show their support for the green industry: the ceremony is now open for sponsorship. G&L Group’s Earthco Soil Mixtures and Draglam Salt have already been confirmed as the 2013 ceremony’s exclusive presenting sponsor. The first supporting sponsor of the event is Sheridan Nurseries.

"This is the first time we have allowed the awards to be presented by anyone and it is particularly exciting since it is our 40th anniversary," said Kristen McIntyre, coordinator of conferences and events. “We now only have room for supporting sponsors, and look forward to making new partnerships.”
