AgriStability deadline extended to July 3
April 21, 2020 By Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (edited)
The AgriStability enrollment deadline for the 2020 program year has been extended without penalty from April 30th to July 3, 2020.
This extension will allow farmers more time to sign up and benefit from the program.
Agreed to by federal, provincial, and territorial governments, this step will enable the program to help more farmers manage the impact of current market disruptions, increased expenses, and production challenges facing many farm operations.
AgriStability is a low-cost risk management program offering financial assistance to producers who experience large margin declines due to any combination of production loss, adverse market conditions or increased costs. Coverage is personalized for each farm by using historical data to calculate a program year margin and a reference margin.
Farmers experiencing losses are encouraged to apply for interim payments under AgriStability for more rapid support.
In Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador and Yukon, AgriStability is delivered by the federal government.
For growers in in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, or Prince Edward Island, AgriStability is delivered provincially.
