IKEA recently released its new 2009 catalogue,
which showcases what styles, textures and colours will be popular in
the upcoming year.

For over 60 years, IKEA
has been a driving force in creating accessible interior design for the
many and in turn has become a leading authority on home décor trends
all around the world. This week, over 160 million people world wide
will pore over the pages of the much anticipated 2009 IKEA Catalogue to
be inspired by the newest must-have products and clever solutions for
their homes.

"The 2009 IKEA Catalogue offers an expanded range of high quality
furniture, kitchens and mattresses to meet the design tastes and
lifestyle needs of our customers." Says Madeleine Lowenborg-Frick,
public relations manager of IKEA Canada. "Three identifiable trends
have emerged from the new 2009 IKEA Collection with products that can
easily be combined with heirlooms or more expensive pieces in order to
support a wide range of lifestyles."

The high contrast of black and white can be found for every room in the
house. The new sophisticated high gloss white VINSTRA storage solutions
for the bedroom add a glamorous dimension, while the new APPLAD kitchen
in matte black is an ultra modern alternative to traditional kitchen
styles. The design of the new black or white leather TIRUP swivel chair
was inspired by a cupped hand. The chrome surface on the plate under
the chair creates an exciting mirror effect that brings in the room as
part of the chair design.

Colour continues as a strong trend for 2009 with a strong presence of
yellow, orange and green. Known for playful, bright Scandinavian
design, IKEA continues with bold choices for home décor. Colour is not
just for accent pieces anymore, the adventurous decorator can create
entire kitchens with the new APPLAD yellow or orange door styles. The
new TROLLSTA series of tables with it's distinct curvy silhouettes
makes a statement in canary yellow. Even the bedroom gets a pop of
colour with the new trendy green felt-upholstered
GRIMEN bed.
