Oct. 2, 2016, Guelph, Ont. – The Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association (OFVGA) will welcome Alison Robertson as its new executive director on Oct. 17.
“The OFVGA is active on a number of files ranging from energy to labour to nutrition,” says Jason Verkaik, chair of the board of directors.
“We believe that Alison Robertson, with her previous 11 years of service to the association, will move with confidence and clarity on these issues while providing leadership to our staff.”
For the last year, Robertson has been executive director of the Agri-Food Management Institute based in Guelph. She is currently chair of the board of directors for the Ontario Food Terminal. Previous to her OFVGA experience as program manager, she spent many years in the packaging business.
“Times are changing so rapidly that how we lobby government and how we communicate with the public must keep pace in a proactive and respectful manner,” says Robertson.
“I see great potential in expanding that dialogue, promoting how the fruit and vegetable sector contributes to a vibrant economy and the health of society.”
