Mucci Farms wins big at United Fresh

June 27, 2016  By Dave Harrison

June 27, 2016, Kingsville, Ont. – Mucci Farms’ Smuccies left a super-sweet impression at United Fresh.

These strawberries were voted Best New Fruit in the Produce Innovation Competition at the convention.

Smuccies also received the Best New Freggie Approved Award at this year’s CPMA show.

Smuccies have exceptional flavour and are esthetically perfect. The packaging and design are unique, appealing and sustainable.

The company says it is “berry” excited to announce that greenhouse-grown Smuccies will always be in season thanks to year-round production.

Mucci Farms is currently expanding its strawberry production with an additional 12-acre range, providing for a total of 16 acres.

The greenhouses are attached to a 40,000-square-foot pre-cooling and packing warehouse.

The first harvests from this new greenhouse are expected in October.

“This award is inspiring for us to continue our commitment to growing the freshest, most flavourful produce in the market,” notes a company news release.

Mucci Farms is committed to growing its product line, always in search of the next best item to grow in a greenhouse.

In addition to Smuccies, it also grows Naked Leaf living lettuce and herbs. Naked Leaf was also a finalist in United Fresh Produce Innovation Competition.

These items and more will be showcased at the PMA Food Service in Monterey later this month.
