FCO welcomes new marketing manager

May 6, 2015, Guelph, Ont. – Dejan Kristan has been appointed marketing and special projects manager with Flowers Canada Ontario.

 “I was attracted to FCO and its marketing role because of the unique marketing challenges and opportunities,” said Kristan. “There is a multitude of activities that this role is responsible for including oversight of special projects, market research, material development all the while understanding the needs of the membership and the floriculture sector.”
 
Earning a bachelor of business administration degree with a focus on entrepreneurship, Kristan has a solid background in business, marketing and project management. Bringing his own take on both organization and optimization strategies, Dejan has launched a number of successful marketing brands and initiatives for his own businesses.
 
“As the owner of a number of thriving and successful businesses, Dejan has a solid track record for making things grow – no pun intended,” said FCO executive director Dean Shoemaker.

“Dejan brings the ability to see the big picture while understanding how all the moving parts fit together and we could not be more pleased that he has joined our team.”
 
FCO marketing committee chair Ted Oorsprong agreed.

IMPROVED MEMBER SUPPORT

In other FCO news, has welcomed Rachelle Pruss as its first member relations coordinator. This position is being implemented in support of FCO’s commitment to its number one priority – member support and exceptional customer service.

Pruss joined the FCO team as marketing coordinator in August 2013. She has already been involved in many of FCO’s member-focused initiatives, including:

• Being on the organizing committees for the highly successful Member Savings Symposiums and the FCO Golf Tournament.

• Greeting growers at the Canadian Greenhouse Conference.

• Developing grower profiles for the website.

• Leading a number of marketing initiatives, including Express It With Flowers and Grown Close to Home.

Pruss will continue to edit FCO newsletters and grower communications.
