CEAC offers online greenhouse course

July 17, 2015, Tucson, AZ — Want to learn the basics of greenhouse production from the comfort of your office or home?

Greenhouse Plant Physiology & Technology is a nine-week, non-credit online course to be administrated through University of Arizona.

It will offer students foundational information on the major greenhouse environmental factors affecting plant growth and development. The contents are equivalent to an upper college level course.

Students will understand interactions between plants and their microenvironments, including light penetration and CO2/H2O diffusion. Students will learn energy and mass balance of leaves, canopy, and greenhouse systems, and correlate these phenomena with plant productivity and related plant physiological mechanisms.

Students will learn key micrometeorological principles.

Lectures cover controlled environment technologies and practices of plant production in greenhouses and high tunnels.

The course will be offered during Aug. 24 to Oct. 25 (nine weeks plus one more week to access). The enrollment must be complete by Aug. 17. The course fee is $728 (US).
