June 15, 2015, St. Catharines, Ont. — This year’s Greenhouse Canada Grower Day is attracting considerable interest, judging by pre-registrations received so far.

Grower Day is being held next Monday (June 22) in St. Catharines.

This year’s day-long focus is on biopesticides. These are an increasingly popular resource for greenhouse growers, both for flower and vegetable crops.

With this year’s Grower Day presentations, our speakers will be delving into many of the “myths” and “truths” behind these microbial biocontrol agents. You’ll learn about their mode of action and get the latest advice on how best to use them, including case studies that illustrate the increasingly important role they can play in greenhouse crops today.

Speakers include Drs. Anissa Poleatewich and Michael Brownbridge of the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre; James Kowalski of Monsanto; Dr. Matthew Krause, BioWorks; and growers Albert Grimm of Jefferys Greenhouses of St. Catharines (flowers) and Norm Hansen of Erieview Acres of Leamington (vegetables).

Considerable networking time has been set aside throughout the day, allowing attendees to take advantage of these breaks to tour the trade show for some “one-stop shopping” of the latest products and services. There’s a wealth of expertise and experience working the booths; if you’ve got a crop challenge, they’ll have the answers.

Grower Day will be held at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites St. Catharines Conference Centre. It’s a good bet the Niagara region will be the home of Grower Day for the next few years to come!

This day wouldn’t be possible without the support our sponsors: Dummen Orange; Paul Boers Manufacturing and Prins Greenhouses; EverGro; and the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre.
