Fafard et Frères not part of Sun Gro deal
Written by Fafard et Frères
June 12, 2012, St-Bonaventure, Que. — Quebec-based Fafard et Frères is not part of the Sun Gro acquisition of Conrad Fafard Inc. that was announced yesterday.

Sun Gro, an important manufacturer in the horticultural industry, announced its acquisition of the U.S. company Conrad Fafard Inc. (CFI), owned by Syngenta.

Even though both Quebec-based Fafard et Frères and U.S.-based CFI are involved in the same industry and own peat bogs in eastern Canada, they are two completely different companies, independent from each other.

Martin Fafard, president of Fafard et Frères, reassures clients and partners that this transaction does not involve Fafard et Frères in any way.

Fafard et Frères is a major manufacturer of soil mixes sold through garden centres in eastern Canada. An active member in the industry, the company owns many peat bogs and produces unique high performance soils and composts in addition to offering a complete line of fertilizers and grass seeds.

Established in 1940, Fafard et Frères Ltd. has up to 250 employees in peak season to produce growing mixes for consumers, greenhouse growers and nurseries.
