Written by Flowers Canada Ontario
Jan. 4, 2012, Grimsby, Ont. — On Tuesday, Jan. 3, Cor Van Geest passed away at the age of 75 after living with cancer for the past while. He is the father of Flowers Canada Ontario director Bryan Van Geest, and father-in-law of FCO president Gerard Schouwenaar.

Cor Van Geest served as president of Flowers Canada in the 1980s.

He recently celebrated 50 years of growing with his company, Van Geest Bros. of Grimsby, which is now run by his family. He emigrated with his family in the early 1950s from the Netherlands as did many at that time.

Cor’s dream to be a grower was realized in 1959 when he began Van Geest Brothers with his brother Adrian. They worked hard and were blessed as they built up their business in quality cut flowers and raised their families.

The family will be receiving visitors on Thursday, Jan. 5, from 7 to 9 p.m., and again on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Mountainview Christian Reformed Church, located at 290 Main St. East in Grimsby, Ontario.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m. at the same address.
